FAQ

What are Microlines?

Microlines are a luxury hair enhancement solution designed for women experiencing thinning hair or low density at the crown and top of the head. A custom hairpiece is attached to a lightweight mesh integration system that blends seamlessly with your natural hair, creating the appearance of fuller density and scalp coverage while still feeling breathable and natural.

Microlines are ideal for guests who may not be candidates for traditional extensions alone and want a more customized solution for visible scalp concerns or overall fullness.

Are toppers good for thinning hair?

Yes — hair toppers can be an incredible option for women experiencing thinning hair, especially around the crown, part line, or top of the head. Unlike extensions, which add length and fullness throughout the hair, toppers are specifically designed to provide coverage and density where thinning is most noticeable.

At Salon Revienne, we customize toppers to blend naturally with your hair color, density, and lifestyle so the result feels soft, seamless, and realistic.

What causes thinning hair in women?

Thinning hair in women can be caused by many different factors, including hormonal changes, stress, postpartum shedding, genetics, aging, nutritional deficiencies, medical conditions, or changes in overall health.

Because every situation is different, we always recommend a personalized consultation to determine the most appropriate cosmetic hair solution based on your lifestyle, level of density, and long-term goals.

Are hand tied extensions damaging?

Hand-tied extensions are not inherently damaging when they are installed correctly, maintained properly, and suited for the guest’s natural hair density. However, improper installation, excessive tension, or poor maintenance can lead to discomfort or stress on the hair over time.

Our approach focuses on lightweight placements, scalp comfort, and customized installations designed to work harmoniously with your natural hair.

How often do extensions need maintenance?

Maintenance schedules vary depending on the extension method, your natural hair growth, and how well the hair is cared for at home.

On average:

  • Hand-tied extensions typically require maintenance every 6–8 weeks

  • Fusion extensions generally last several months before needing replacement or reinstallation

We’ll provide a customized maintenance plan and home care recommendations to help keep your hair looking beautiful, comfortable, and healthy between appointments.

Why can't I book extension services online?

Before scheduling an in-person consultation, we begin with a consultation form so we can learn more about your hair, goals, and needs to ensure our services are the right fit for you. The form also includes information on pricing and maintenance so you can determine whether the investment and upkeep align with your lifestyle. If we feel we can provide a solution for your needs, we’ll then move forward with an in-person consultation to create a customized plan tailored to you.

What's the difference between toppers & extensions?

Hair extensions are designed to add length and fullness throughout the hair, while toppers are designed to provide coverage in areas experiencing visible thinning or scalp exposure.

Extensions work by adding density to the existing hair, whereas toppers sit at the top or crown area to create fuller-looking coverage where natural density may be limited.

In many cases, a combination of both can create the most natural and balanced result depending on your goals and level of hair density.

Can extensions help hide thinning hair?

Yes — when customized properly, extensions can help create the appearance of fuller, denser hair and reduce the contrast of visible thinning throughout the mids and ends. However, not every thinning hair concern can or should be addressed with extensions alone.

The right method, placement, and weight are extremely important, especially for delicate or low-density hair. At Salon Revienne, we prioritize lightweight, scalp-conscious extension methods designed to blend naturally while supporting the long-term health of your hair.

Which extensions are safest for fine hair?

The safest extensions for fine hair are lightweight, properly customized, and installed with the health of the natural hair in mind. There is no one-size-fits-all method — the best option depends on your natural density, scalp sensitivity, lifestyle, and desired result.

At Salon Revienne, we specialize in extension methods designed specifically for fine and delicate hair, including hand-tied and fusion extensions, with customized placement strategies that prioritize comfort, blend, and long-term hair integrity.

How long do fusion extensions last?

Fusion extensions typically last several months with proper care and maintenance. Because each bond is individually attached, they offer a very natural blend and flexible movement while requiring less frequent move-up appointments than some other methods.

Longevity depends on factors such as hair growth, home care, lifestyle, and maintenance habits. During your consultation, we’ll help determine whether fusion extensions are the right fit for your goals and routine.

How often do Microlines need maintenance?

Microlines typically require maintenance every 3–4 weeks to ensure the system remains secure, comfortable, and properly blended as your natural hair grows.

Regular maintenance appointments allow us to refresh the placement, check the integrity of the system, and ensure your natural hair and scalp remain healthy. Consistent upkeep is an important part of maintaining a seamless, natural-looking result and extending the longevity of your Microlines investment.

I'm not sure which services I need...

That’s completely okay. Start with the consultation form and we’ll help guide you toward the best option for your hair goals when we meet in-person.

Do you offer virtual consultations?

No, we do not. Due to the nature of these services consultations need to be completed in person so we can assess your hair and scalp health and density, texture, and color so we can create a customized plan for your needs.
